LOBBY IN SHENZHEN

Design of a lobby for a residential tower in the city of Shenzhen, China

In 2014 we received an invitation from Area 17, an architectural firm with offices in China. We were invited to bid on a large residential development in the city of Shenzhen, 30 minutes from Hong Kong in China’s Guangdong province.

The floor is inlaid with marble flowers and the wall at the end of the corridor is made up entirely of plants

The floral pattern on the marble floor is created by inlaying three different types of marble sourced locally, red for the flowers, green for the dotted leaves and white for the background

The white marble floor, sourced locally, is inlaid with a series of laser-cut red flowers and green circles. The same pattern is repeated on the wall between the elevators and on each floor.
