In 2014, Sergio Mannino Studio was invited by Area 17, an international architectural firm with offices in China, to participate in a bid for a large residential development in Shenzhen, located just 30 minutes from Hong Kong in Guangdong Province. The project encompassed both the design of the building’s lobby and the model apartments.
Working closely with Area 17, we developed a vision that would not only meet the functional demands of a high-traffic space but also offer a sophisticated and memorable experience for residents and visitors alike.
The material palette is centered around white marble, a timeless and elegant choice, intricately inlaid with laser-cut red floral motifs and green circular elements.
Our process is inherently collaborative, informed by rigorous research and tailored to each project’s specific cultural, geographic, and functional needs. This development in Shenzhen stands as a testament to the potential of cross-cultural partnerships and the enduring power of thoughtful, human-centered design.
