modern designer rugs
Rugs started for me as a child in Palermo, watching my grandmother sell Persian carpets and helping roll them up after a client left. I had no idea what the patterns meant. I just couldn't stop looking at them, like each one held a small world inside it.
Every pattern we design today starts the same way, hand-drawn first, sometimes from a butterfly, sometimes from a memory I can't fully place, and only then sent to Nepal to be hand-knotted by people who have spent their lives doing exactly that. Once a rug is finished, it stops being only mine. It becomes its own world, with its own logic, the same way a drawing takes on a life of its own the moment it leaves the hand that made it. No two come out the same, because no two days spent drawing them are the same either.
